I'll Walk With You

I just finished listening to an Interview with Carol Pearson and Mitch Mayne. I appreciated the hopefulness that lifted my own spirit. What came out of that was first of all a type of grieving but searching of a renewable energy. is that hope is still alive. After Proposition 8 this ugly thing, we saw something open and blossom within the church.. But we still haven’t learned. What is happening right now is going to fuel something even bigger. It is so ugly that it can only get better. This is far from over. God works in mysterious ways and will find a way to open new doors to a structure that is already starting to swell in the hearts and minds of people in new ways. Sometimes it’s hard to see.

We can look from the past during the Post Manifesto period when they were trying to stamp out the polygamy fire. Children who wanted to be baptized had to go through stringent means to prove they weren’t polygamous at heart. This was a move to protect the church. Many thought it was a move to protect the children from confusion.

Missionaries are now being sent home, but they will have new unexpected and even more important missions to start when they come home, changing the hearts of the members. We all as members need to start looking into the world more broadly in how we can serve because the Kingdom of God is within. When the doors close than our light within guides us to a new calling to bring light to others. There is poem called by Carol Pearson titled Within

WITHIN

I read a map once

Saying the kingdom of God

Was within me

But I never trusted

Such unlikely ground.

I went out.

I scoured schools

And libraries

And chapels and temples

And other people’s eyes

And the skies and the rocks,

And I found treasures

From the kingdom’s treasury

But not the kingdom.

Finally I came in quiet

For a rest

And turned on the light.

And there

Just like a surprise party

Was all the smiling royalty,

King, Queen, court.

People have been

Locked up for less, I know.

But I tell you

Something marvelous

Is bordered by this skin:

I am a castle

And the kingdom of God

Is within.

At this time all members should be aware of the tender emotional states of our Gay friends and families. This policy is a huge shame for our church. Youth miss do not yet have the experience of taking authority over who they are and have given it to church authorities. We all need to step up and be there for all those who are suffering. This new policy has expanded the circle of people to now children, that they are somehow extra pieces of the puzzle that don’t fit into our church. This is cruel and selfish, and irresponsible to say that they are. People may not remember what you said or did but they will always remember the way you made them feel. You can download the Family Acceptance project to get the resources you need to do that. http://familyproject.sfsu.edu/overview

Our church has a long history of persecuting LGBT people. And it’s quite shocking to me that people are not hearing the Savior’s voice here it doesn’t square with our doctrine. Our church as somehow placed the appearance of happiness as more important than true happiness. We have placed the act of getting married as husband and wife more important than the the love that actually binds us eternally. And it’s crazy that we manipulate things in our minds to make this be ok. The family sealing is nice but it’s not what binds you together folks. LOVE is the only binding force. The only reason why we are here is to learn to love one another. The gospel is simple, We have a God of common sense, inclusion and love.

I’d like to close with a song Carol sang “I’ll Walk With you”
